Ion Exchange Separation

Ion Exchange Separation is a chemical separation method that isolates isotopes based on their differential affinities for ion exchange resins, whereby ions of the same charge but different isotopic composition undergo reversible exchange between a solution and a solid phase, with selectivity arising from small differences in binding strength due to isotopic mass.
