Intermediate Polars

Intermediate Polars is a subclass of cataclysmic variable stars characterized by a magnetic white dwarf primary that accretes material from a companion star via an accretion disk, with the distinguishing feature that the white dwarf’s rotational period is intermediate between synchronous rotation and very rapid, non-synchronous spin, leading to observable quasi-periodic oscillations in its electromagnetic emission.
