Intermediate Filament Assembly is a structural biophysical process in which intermediate filaments, as a class of cytoskeletal polymers, undergo hierarchical polymerization of tissue-specific acidic and basic monomers into non-polar, rope-like nanofilaments that provide mechanical stability to cells and resist mechanical stress.
