Induced Reliance
Induced Reliance is a legal doctrine within administrative law that occurs when a public authority, through a clear and unambiguous representation or practice, leads an individual or entity to reasonably expect a certain outcome or continued treatment, thereby prompting said individual or entity to act or refrain from acting in material reliance on that expectation, distinguishing it from mere expectation by the necessity of causal connection between the authority’s conduct and the claimant’s detrimental reliance.
