Independence Of The Continuum Function

Independence of the Continuum Function is a mathematical result in set theory establishing that the behavior of the continuum function, which maps a cardinal $\kappa$ to $2^\kappa$, cannot be determined solely from the axioms of Zermelo-Fraenkel set theory with the Axiom of Choice (ZFC), as its values at infinite cardinals are subject to arbitrary variation under different models of set theory.
