Implicit Solid Modeling

Implicit Solid Modeling is a geometric modeling paradigm within computer-aided design and computational geometry that represents solid objects implicitly through real-valued scalar fields, typically defined over a continuous domain, where the boundary of the solid is characterized by the zero-level set of the field function, thereby distinguishing it from explicit boundary-based representations such as polygonal or parametric surface models.
