Imitative Counterpoint
Imitative Counterpoint is a compositional technique in voice-leading analysis whereby a melodic idea is introduced in one voice and subsequently restated in another voice at a different pitch level, characterizing its genus as a contrapuntal procedure and differentiating it through the deliberate, sequential replication of thematic material across voices.
