Hyperelasticity

Hyperelasticity is a constitutive theory within continuum mechanics that describes nonlinear elastic material behavior by defining a strain energy density function whose derivatives with respect to deformation measures yield the associated stress tensors, thereby characterizing reversible elastic deformations in materials such as soft biological tissues under finite strains.
