Hotspot Reference Frames

Hotspot Reference Frames is a geophysical reference framework that uses the presumed fixed positions of mantle hotspots over geological time to reconstruct plate motions relative to an internally consistent set of volcanic traces, distinguishing it from other plate motion models by anchoring plate kinematics to deep-mantle-derived volcanic features rather than relative plate boundary constraints.
