Hopping Transport

Hopping Transport is a charge carrier conduction mechanism in disordered or amorphous materials where electrons or holes move through localized states by thermally activated tunneling between neighboring sites, distinguished from band transport by its reliance on localized state occupancy and variable-range quantum tunneling rather than extended Bloch-state propagation.
