Hopping Electron Transfer
Hopping Electron Transfer is a mechanism of electron transport in proteins where the electron propagates through a series of localized intermediate sites by sequential short-range tunneling events, distinguished from coherent superexchange by its reliance on thermally activated population of transient redox-active residues or cofactors along the pathway.
