Historical Socrates

Historical Socrates is a scholarly construct in ancient philosophy that denotes the reconstructed figure of Socrates derived from contemporaneous historical evidence, distinguished from the literary and philosophical portrayals by its reliance on critical historiographical methods to ascertain the beliefs, methods, and life of the actual Athenian philosopher who lived c. 470–399 BCE.
