Heat Mixing

Heat Mixing is a physical process within mesoscale eddy dynamics that refers to the lateral and vertical redistribution of thermal energy in the ocean due to the advective and diffusive actions of coherent rotational water masses, distinguishing it from other scalar mixing mechanisms by its direct role in modulating sea surface temperature and upper-ocean heat content.
