Head-solos-head Form

Head-Solos-Head Form is a musical structure in jazz performance that follows a ternary arrangement consisting of an initial statement of the theme (head), followed by improvised solos over the harmonic framework of the composition, and concluding with a restatement of the theme (head), thereby distinguishing it from other jazz formal organizations through its symmetrical and cyclical presentation of the melody surrounding the improvisational section.
