Gegenbauer Polynomials

Gegenbauer Polynomials is a class of orthogonal polynomials on the interval $[-1, 1]$ with respect to the weight function $(1 - x^2)^{\lambda - 1/2}$ for $\lambda > -1/2$, distinguished from other orthogonal polynomials by their role as eigenfunctions of a singular Sturm–Liouville problem and their generality in encompassing Legendre and Chebyshev polynomials as special cases.
