Gaba-glutamine Cycle
The GABA-Glutamine Cycle is a neurochemical recycling process in which astrocyte-derived glutamine serves as a precursor for neuronal synthesis of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), followed by subsequent reuptake of synaptically released GABA into glial cells and its reconversion to glutamine, thus maintaining the balance of inhibitory neurotransmission in the central nervous system.
