Functional Mandibular Movements
Functional Mandibular Movements is a biomechanical construct that denotes the three-dimensional dynamic motions of the mandible during physiological activities such as mastication, swallowing, and speech, distinguished from other mandibular movements by their reproducibility, coordination with neuromuscular control, and dependency on anatomical guidance from the temporomandibular joint and occlusal contacts.
