French Revolution

The **French Revolution** is a major late‑eighteenth‑century political and social revolution in France that, between 1789 and 1799, overthrew the Bourbon absolute monarchy, dismantled feudal and corporate privileges, proclaimed principles of popular sovereignty and individual rights, and inaugurated the French First Republic, thereby reshaping the political and ideological foundations of modern Europe.
