French Mandate System

The "French Mandate System" is a colonial administrative regime established by the League of Nations under which France exercised sovereign control over designated territories in the Middle East, particularly Syria and Lebanon, following the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire after World War I, distinguishing it from other mandate systems by its centralized, assimilationist policies and emphasis on French cultural and political influence.
