Force-based Seismic Design

Force-Based Seismic Design is a structural design methodology within seismic engineering that determines the required strength and reinforcement of reinforced concrete elements by applying seismic forces derived from elastic response spectra, distinguished from displacement- or performance-based approaches by its reliance on force-level demand and prescribed ductility factors to ensure acceptable inelastic behavior during earthquakes.
