Forbearance Regulation is a regulatory framework within residential mortgage lending that specifies the conditions and mechanisms under which lenders are required or permitted to temporarily suspend, reduce, or delay borrower loan payments during periods of financial hardship, thereby distinguishing it from general loan modification policies by its mandatory and time-limited intervention focus.
