Fluvial Terrace is a step-like landform composed of a flat or gently sloping surface bounded by a former river channel and a steeper valley slope, distinguished from other fluvial deposits by its elevated position above the current river level and its formation through episodic downcutting and lateral erosion during Quaternary climatic and tectonic fluctuations.
