Floor Formation

Floor Formation is a foundational methodological construct in the academic study of wheel throwing, referring to the systematic process by which the base of a ceramic vessel is shaped and stabilized on the potter's wheel through controlled hand and tool manipulation of clay, distinguishing it from other formation stages by its focus on initial structural integrity and symmetry.
