Flexural Isostasy

Flexural Isostasy is a geophysical model within the broader framework of planetary isostasy that describes the equilibrium state of the lithosphere under surface or subsurface loads, wherein the lithosphere behaves as an elastic plate and adjusts through bending, in contrast to local or regional isostatic models that assume local hydrostatic compensation.
