Firn-air Interaction

Firn-Air Interaction is a geophysical process in cryospheric science that describes the exchange and diffusion of atmospheric gases within the porous layer of compacted snow (firn) overlaying ice sheets, distinguishing it from other air-ice interactions by its dependence on firn microstructure, density gradients, and transient ventilation effects.
