Experimental Ensemble Practice is an academic construct in music studies that denotes a collaborative improvisational framework in which performers engage in real-time, non-idiomatic sonic exploration, distinguished from traditional ensemble practices by its rejection of fixed scores, predefined forms, and hierarchical leadership in favor of emergent, collectively negotiated structures.
