Event Beds
Event Bed is a distinct stratal unit within a sedimentary sequence, distinguished by its deposition during a single, short-lived, and often catastrophic sediment-gravity flow or hydraulic event, as opposed to continuous background sedimentation, and typically characterized by sharp boundaries, internal grading, and a vertical concentration of coarse-grained or anomalously sourced material indicative of turbidite, debris-flow, or storm-induced lacustrine or slope depositional processes.
