Eutectic Coarsening

Eutectic Coarsening is a microstructural evolution process in which the characteristic length scale of the eutectic phases increases over time through diffusion-driven phase redistribution, resulting in the thickening of lamellae or rods and a reduction in interfacial energy within the two-phase eutectic array.
