Essayistic Editing is a documentary film editing methodology that belongs to the class of non-linear, reflexive editorial practices, distinguished by its deliberate juxtaposition of heterogeneous materials—such as personal narration, archival footage, and philosophical inquiry—to construct a subjectively argumentative, contemplative, and rhetorically driven narrative form.
