Ergative Voice

Ergative Voice is a morphosyntactic alignment system in which the single argument of an intransitive verb is treated like the patient (absolutive) of a transitive verb, distinct from the agent (ergative) of a transitive verb, thereby marking transitive subjects morphologically or syntactically differently from intransitive subjects and transitive objects.
