Equirectangular Projection is a map projection method that maps spherical coordinates of a 360-degree scene directly onto a 2D plane by uniformly scaling longitude and latitude angles into Cartesian coordinates, preserving angular relationships at the expense of spatial distortion, particularly near the poles.
