Elutriation

Elutriation is a separation process in fluidized bed reactors whereby fine particles are selectively carried out of the bed by an upward-flowing gas stream based on their terminal velocity, distinguishing it from other particle retention or classification mechanisms by its dependence on relative fluid-particle dynamics and size-dependent entrainment.
