Election Without Traverse is a procedural response in patent law wherein a patent applicant selects one of multiple distinct inventions claimed in a single application without challenging the examiner’s restriction requirement, thereby acknowledging the propriety of the restriction while preserving the right to petition or file a divisional application at a later stage.
