Edge Decoration

Edge Decoration is a specialized technique in bookbinding that involves the aesthetic treatment of the exposed fore, head, and tail edges of a text block, distinguished from other binding elements by its focus on surface embellishment—such as gold tooling, marbling, or colored patterning—applied directly to the cut or folded periphery of the pages to enhance the book’s visual and tactile appeal.
