Ecological Opportunity

**Ecological Opportunity** is an ecological and evolutionary condition in which a lineage experiences access to evolutionarily accessible but underutilized resources and/or relaxed biotic constraints (e.g. from competitors, predators, or other antagonists), thereby reducing stabilizing selection on ecologically important traits and enabling diversification associated with adaptive radiation.
