Echo Top Classification

Echo Top Classification is a radar meteorology method that identifies the vertical extent of precipitation echoes by determining the highest altitude at which a detectable backscatter signal associated with hydrometeors is observed, distinguishing it from other echo classification techniques by focusing specifically on the temporal and spatial evolution of echo upper boundaries.
