Earth Berming

Earth Berming is a passive building envelope design strategy, specifically a form of earth sheltering, in which compacted soil is contoured against one or more exterior walls of a structure to provide thermal mass, insulation, and environmental integration while distinguishing itself from other earth sheltering techniques by not fully enclosing the building with earth.
