Dual Relationships

Dual Relationships is an ethical-legal concept in counseling and social work denoting a professional relationship configuration in which a practitioner simultaneously holds, or has held, one or more additional personal, social, or professional roles with a current or former client, thereby creating overlapping roles that may impair professional judgment, generate conflicts of interest, or increase the risk of client harm or exploitation.
