Distributed Afterslip is a postseismic deformation mechanism characterized by the gradual, aseismic slip occurring over an extended, laterally and vertically distributed region of a fault zone following a major seismic event, distinguished from localized afterslip by its broad spatial distribution and contribution to ongoing crustal strain adjustments.
