Discrete Kirchhoff Shell Elements

Discrete Kirchhoff Shell Elements is a finite element method formulation within structural mechanics that discretizes thin shell structures by explicitly enforcing Kirchhoff’s constraint of vanishing transverse shear strains at selected points, thereby eliminating rotational degrees of freedom and ensuring compatibility of bending and membrane behavior in a variational consistent framework.
