Digital Thread

Digital thread is an academic concept and methodological approach that investigates the seamless, integrated, and persistent flow of digital information across the entire lifecycle of a product, system, or process. It is characterized by bidirectional data connectivity, accessibility, and traceability, linking disparate data sources from ideation and design through manufacturing, sustainment, and retirement. Its significance lies in enabling enhanced decision-making, advanced analytics, process optimization, and improved system performance through comprehensive data visibility and utilization.
