Digital Intermediate Process

The Digital Intermediate Process is a post-production workflow in digital cinematography whereby a film is scanned into a digital format for color grading, visual effects integration, and image refinement before final output to a distribution medium, distinguished from other post-production stages by its role as the central phase for high-resolution, frame-accurate digital mastering.
