Diffuse Photon-dominated Regions

Diffuse Photon-Dominated Regions is a subclass of interstellar environments characterized by low-density molecular gas and dust that are moderately exposed to far-ultraviolet radiation from nearby stars, where photoelectric heating dominates gas thermal balance and chemical processes are driven by ultraviolet photons penetrating the medium without complete absorption.
