Diffuse Interstellar Gas

Diffuse Interstellar Gas is a phase of interstellar matter characterized by low density and high temperature, distinguished from denser interstellar phases by its widespread distribution and minimal self-gravitation, predominantly composed of neutral hydrogen and trace molecules, and pervading the galactic disk with sufficient ionization to impede molecular cloud formation.
