Difference Fourier Maps

Difference Fourier Maps is a computational crystallographic technique that, as a type of Fourier synthesis method, reveals discrepancies between observed and calculated electron density distributions by mapping the Fourier transform of the difference between experimental diffraction data and those simulated from an atomic model, thereby enabling the identification of unmodeled features such as solvent molecules, ligands, or structural disorder.
