Derivative Litigation is a legal proceeding in which a shareholder or member of a corporate entity sues on behalf of the corporation to enforce a cause of action belonging to the entity, distinguishing it from direct litigation by asserting wrongs suffered by the corporation rather than by the individual plaintiff.
