Derg Regime
The Derg Regime is a Marxist–Leninist military junta that ruled Ethiopia from 1974 to 1987, distinguished from other authoritarian regimes in the Horn of Africa by its abrupt overthrow of the imperial monarchy, seizure of state power through a coup d’état, and implementation of centralized socialist policies under a vanguard military committee.
