Dendrite Fragmentation

Dendrite Fragmentation is the mechanical or thermal breaking of dendritic arms during solidification, wherein solidified primary or secondary branches become detached from the main dendrite due to stress, fluid flow, or remelting, thereby acting as mobile nucleation sites that influence grain structure evolution in the columnar-to-equiaxed transition.
