Cyclotomic Characters
Cyclotomic Characters is a continuous homomorphism from the absolute Galois group of a field to the multiplicative group of ℓ-adic units, defined by the action of the Galois group on the ℓ-power roots of unity, thereby encoding the arithmetic of cyclotomic extensions in a one-dimensional ℓ-adic representation.
