Cortical Depolarization

Cortical depolarization is a fundamental concept in neuroscience describing the process by which the electrical potential across the membrane of neurons in the cerebral cortex becomes less negative. This academic concept and research area investigates the underlying ionic mechanisms, characteristic spatiotemporal patterns, and functional significance of this membrane potential shift in regulating neuronal excitability, synaptic integration, and information processing within cortical circuits, as well as its role in pathological states.
